As part of a photography class during summer at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, the students made a simple project of telling a story through some pictures.

My story is about the Madison lifestyle. Things that people normally do here and that are extremely common for them, but, in the other hand, is really different from my reality in Brazil.

Biking across town

It is impossible to walk on Madison without seeing at least one person riding a bike. In the most different colors, sizes and styles, the bikes rule the town. Whether it is to go faster from one place to another, or to just work out for a while, bikes are a popular choice. It looks so practical and fun that it is nearly impossible to resist, if staying in Madison for a while, one day you will end up biking around.

Just like some popular sports, professional skateboarding is also found in Madison. While some see the skate as a recreational sport, others see a career. Part of the life as a professional skateboarder is to make promotional videos. Those footage are taken very seriously since a 15 seconds scene can take a whole day to be filmed.

Skateboard, an easy, healthy and funny way to move across town. Approved for all ages and purposes, the skate is popular among university students for their everyday way to class. Although, it is also seen as a very exciting sport, bringing happiness and a sense of mission accomplished every time you hit a maneuver.

Reading - Easiest way to travel

Enjoyable reading

One frequent activity on the Memorial Terrace, right by the Lake Mendota, is reading. It can be a book, a magazine, a newspaper or a digital work, you can go there any day and at least one person will be reading something. Despite of the music, sometimes present, and the talking, the Terrace is found to be a calming place to read.

Sailing - The peaceful getaway

Sunday Sail

During weekends, people enjoy the beauty and peace of the Lake Mendota by sailing. Some have their own boats, some rent them. Everyone who goes there looking for a good time on the water always find it, and the ducks may even join you.
